Charitable Rust is next week!
That’s right! Our yearly charity event, Charitable Rust, happens next weekend, October 14th and 15th. This year, we’re supporting charity: water for the second time. This amazing organization brings access to fresh water to those around the world who need it most.
Join us on our main event server for a 2x weekend wipe. Get your Twitch drops and item store skins (the proceeds of which go towards this amazing cause) starting next Thursday, October 12th. Also, check out other events during the weekend from FancyOrb and Nexus Online Services, along with Rust Reborn and Rusta-a-holics!
To help raise awareness, the Water Jug in game has been turned yellow this month! A huge thank you as always to Facepunch for their support with this event. Here is a preview of the skins going live next week!
Brutalist Building Skin DLC
The latest building skin for Rust goes live with the update today! The ‘Brutalist’ skin, originally a skin for the armored tier on staging, goes live with the update today as the 3rd building skin for the stone building tier. With a concrete, minimalist vibe, the Brutalist skin will be available for purchase on the item store around when the update hits.
More weather
As part of the balance shifts, the devs have turned up the dial on Mother Nature's fury. Buckle up, because bad weather is about to become a more common companion on the harsh Rust landscape. Rain, storms, and thick fog will be creeping in with increased probability post-update.
There is, however, a silver lining amidst the storm clouds. Water catchers will now work overtime during inclement weather. When it's raining, they'll fill up faster, and in the midst of a storm, they'll reach capacity even faster.
Tool Cupboard inventory layout
Some tweaks to the layout of the tool cupboard are in store for this update. First, the overall layout of the UI has been shifted, allowing players to see the protected time left and tool slots at the same time. Also, one additional slot has been added for tools, bringing the total up to 5. This is one extra place for your Spray Can, Hammer, Building Plan, Wire Tool, Pipe Tool, or Hose Tool.
Balance changes
After polling the audience for some balance changes last month, the development team is working on a couple things to shift. Here is a summary:
MP5 buff: bullet velocity and damage has been slightly increased. Also, its accuracy while bursting has been increased
Turrets are limited to 12 in a 40m radius. Any further turrets placed in radius will be automatically disabled
Spawning near certain monuments (including Oilrigs) has been restricted. This means you can no longer spawn on a Tugboat right near Oilrig
Small battery output and capacity has been buffed
Expanded workbench source area so players are now able to stand slightly further away and craft
Slightly brighter underwater visibility
Reduced water pump preventbuilding volume
Homing Missile Launcher ADS
After going live last month, the Homing Missile Launcher did not have the normal aim down sight functionality (ADS) which most guns have. That changes with the update today, however, as a new ADS ability has been added. Unlike most guns, the Homing Launcher ADS features a fresh UI which takes over the user's view and shows some targeting and locking information.
