Floor frames: A closer look
It's a fresh week for Rust development and there is an exciting update hitting Thursday. Given it’s the first of the month, a forced map wipe will occur game-wide when the update goes live - no sign of a forced blueprint wipe.
There aren’t going to be many significant changes to procedural map generation as Andre is working on other things like optimization a bug fixes. That said, we do have some more building blocks from Vince making their way in. Here is an overview of what to expect...
Floor frame
Like the wall frame which entered the game last week, a floor frame must be present prior to these new pieces being placed. Also like its wall sibling, it can be upgraded to the various tiers of buildings (wood, stone, etc). It may be placed anywhere you can put a floor, and costs the same as the floor frame.

Floor grill
A grated square of metal, the floor grill is exactly what it sounds like. With a cost twice that of a sheet metal floor (not including the frame), I’m not sure how practical this will actually be. That in mind, using these as the top roof of your base may give it a more open feel.
The floor grill is not susceptible to melee damage, however, 1 C4 will smash it to bits. Also, although you can see through it, you can not currently loot crates or furnaces from below.

Ladder hatch
Most exciting of these new additions, the ladder hatch gives us an entirely new way to segment the levels of our bases. On top of that, it’s got a pretty sweet animation when the ladder folds down.
Like normal doors, locks may be placed on the hatch. Given it is made out of metal, it is not prone to melee damage. However, like the grill, 1 C4 will blow it to kingdom come.

Update on Rustafied Reserved
In response to many complaints from people having a hard time getting into our servers because they are full, we started testing a new reserved slot server this past weekend. With its official launch on Thursday, the server is off to an excellent start and already has an awesome group of regulars.
The response has been so great, we actually sold out of reserved slots on the second day. As a result, we’ve upgraded the hardware and added 25 more slots for purchase. The total slots are now 130 - giving 3 public slots for every 2 reserved (and 5 extra for staff). A huge thank you to everyone for the support!
If you’d like a guaranteed spot, go purchase a reserved slot while they're still available!
