Updates, bug fixes, and we're official!
12:25pm EST - A lot going on in the past 24 hours, there have been a couple updates with some great fixes. Before I get into that, you may have noticed a new name show up on the official server tab...
We’re official!
That’s right! Starting yesterday, we are now on the official server list.
You may ask, “Why is this?” Well, Garry offered to add us and I accepted. I’ve been helping the team distinguish and track down bugs. Stress testing the server is a key part of the debugging process. Having our server on the official list brings in more players and therefore aids in that process.
You may also ask, “What does this mean?” It simply means this: We are now on the official server list. I am not on the Facepunch payroll; our hosting bills are still going to me, not Garry. This is still an independent operation. I will continue to report on the daily development of Rust and promise not to sugar coat if, when and how the game is fucked up.
Given this increased exposure, I have given several other people admin access to help maintain the context of the server. Admins are here to help facilitate smooth gameplay and remove toxic players / hackers. If you ever have a problem with an admin or anyone else in the server, please email me at rustafied@gmail.com.
Invisible walls fixed
The biggest bug over the past couple of weeks has been building parts randomly disappearing for some people. This has allowed some to seemingly walk through walls and loot houses with ease. Thankfully, this should now be a thing of the past. This bug has been pretty elusive so please post a comment below if you see it happening still.
Mac fixed
Since the update Friday, there have been some major texture fuckups on Mac (and a few on Windows). As of the first update today, these are all fixed. Congrats Mac users, you can play again!
Held item fixes
There has been some wonkiness with switching items recently, particularly when using the mouse wheel. This should be smoother now that Garry has fixed some things around the player belt and active weapons not updating properly.
Shotgun updates
If you use a shotgun today, you’ll notice some changes. Alex has done his first pass on the sounds and Andre increased the deploy speed so it doesn’t take as long to equip anymore.
Torch flicker
Currently, when you switch to your torch, there is a split second flicker as if it is lit. Garry fixed this little annoyance, however, it didn’t make it into the last update launch. Expect this fix to be live on the next client update.
Stone textures
Vincent is rocking out some new textures for stone buildings. Check them out here:
Concrety building stuff
Paul has added a new card to the Remnants list: Conrety building stuff. Looking cool!
