High Caliber Revolver and more progress!
12:00am EST - With two weeks before the big world update patch, the team is trucking on new features and various fixes.
Our update preview stream goes live at 1pm EST. Follow @Rustafied for news throughout the week.
High Caliber Revolver
Gunslingers rejoice, there’s a new sheriff in town! Say hello to the high caliber revolver, a fierce new tier 2 weapon that's currently making waves on the AUX2 branch. Set to possibly go live with the October update, this 6-shooter currently uses pistol ammo and packs the same punch as the beloved Python (albeit a slower fire rate). Keep in mind, this is subject to change prior to going live.
Siege weapons
Get ready for some medieval mayhem! The first signs of siege weapons are starting to appear, with a catapult currently being pieced together on a separate branch. While there's no set date for when these bad boys will launch into the game and no visuals just yet, the idea of flinging projectiles at enemy bases is definitely interesting. We don’t have any details now, but we’ll keep you in the loop with updates as soon as we get more info.
Edit: First signs of a siege tower also in the commits today.
Radioactive items
Radioactive water is making its debut with the world update in October! This week, there's a significant shake-up with how radioactive items are handled in the game. The latest commits suggest that any item could potentially become radioactive. While we're not quite sure if this means you'll soon be dodging radioactive AKs, it's a development we're watching closely. Stay tuned as we keep an eye on how this feature evolves—things are about to get more radioactive in Rust!
Blowpipe progress
Get ready to add some stealth and strategy to your arsenal with the new low-tier blowpipe weapon that's still brewing in development. This nifty tool is set to use bone darts as its default ammo, but there's more—several types of poison darts are also in the works, including ones that incapacitate vision, slow down movement, and even deliver a dose of radiation. While there’s no official word yet on when this sneaky weapon will go live, as all the development action is happening on a separate branch, we’re keeping a close watch.
Edit: Looks like a healing dart is also being played with.
World update progress
The big buzz around Rust this October is the massive world update, and boy, is it shaping up to be a game-changer. This week, the devs are deep in the trenches, fine-tuning procedural map generation and all these new changes. We’re talking numerous bug fixes and tweaks to the latest additions to ensure everything’s smooth sailing when it drops.
And get this—the DPV (diver propulsion vehicle) looks set to make a splash as part of this update. For those of you diving deep into last week’s article, you already know the scope of what’s coming. If you missed it, now’s your chance to catch up and get the lowdown on all the exciting changes brewing in Rust’s world. Stay tuned as we continue to track its progress!
Tier 1 SMG
A new low-tier SMG is on the horizon, first spotted on a fresh branch last week. Details are still thin, but we're keeping our eyes peeled for more info. No visuals yet, but stay tuned—we’ll keep you posted as soon as we learn more about this exciting new addition to your early-game arsenal.
