12:00am EST - We’re at the halfway point for Rust development this month and the team is cranking on several new features and items.
Our update preview stream goes live at 1pm EST. Follow @Rustafied for news throughout the week.
Traveling vendor
A traveling vendor is now making rounds across the map on Aux2, offering a rotating stock of weapons, explosives, and resources. This ice cream truck styled mobile shop features 3 vending machines and is guarded by two peacekeeping turrets to fend off any troublemakers. You can stop the vendor anywhere along its route to snag some gear. Items for sale appear to be random and prices may be dynamic based on demand over the past 24 hours of sales.
Keep track of its location via the in-game map to catch it when it’s nearby. This new addition is subject to change (especially the items / prices), and has no confirmed launch date. If I had to guess though, I’d say it will likely go live with the July update.
Diver propulsion vehicle
Get ready to make waves with Rust's new Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV)! This single-person water vehicle is easy to deploy and retrieve, just like a Boogie Board. Powered by Low Grade Fuel and with controls similar to the submarine, the DPV is perfect for zipping through water, whether you’re diving deep or skimming the surface. Like the other additions to Aux2, no official word on release, but July is looking probable.
Bikes
Get ready to explore the terrain in style with the new bike vehicles currently in testing. There are four different types of bikes hitting the trails, including both pedal-powered bicycles for the eco-friendly raiders and motorbikes for those who like a bit of throttle. Each style comes in two variants: a solo version for lone wolves and a two-person model perfect for team expeditions.
These rides are now available on the Aux2 branch for testing, and spawn randomly around roads on the map and certain monuments. While there's no confirmed release date just yet, we might see these bikes roll out in the official July update. We’ll keep you posted as always.
New gestures
The implementation of new gestures is in the works over on Aux2 also! Still a work in progress, it appears as though a bunch of the crude gestures from the last hack week may soon be making their way in. At the moment, the gesture wheel has been updated to allow for different pages (similar to the building skin selection on the hammer). No word if these will be added by default or part of an upcoming DLC. We’ll keep you posted as more comes to light.

Charitable Rust Skin Contest!
Our yearly charity event, Charitable Rust, is slated for Saturday, October 12th! This year, I’m proud to announce we are supporting Direct Relief. As is tradition, we’ll be running a skin creation contest for Twitch drops and item store skins (the proceeds of which go to charity). This contest will kick off July 1st and run the entire month. If you’re a skin creator and you’d like to participate, check out here for more information.
