Hackweek continues
12:00am EST - The team continues as we hit the halfway point for Rust development this month. Remember with hackweek stuff: it may not make it into the game! But, it also might!
Our update preview stream goes live at 1pm EST. Follow @Rustafied for news throughout the week.
Rocket boots (hackweek)
An initial concept for a pair of rocket boots is being played with. Based on commits, these will consume a charge while being used (flying) and then recharge once on the ground again for 3 seconds. From the looks of it, these would allow for brief hovering, or a type of ‘super jump’, before returning to the ground to charge. We’ll keep you posted if it looks like these will actually make it in the game.
Full base heating (hackweek)
In the more realistic realm, a solution for full base heating has a ton of commits towards it. Basically allowing players to enjoy the comfort and warmth of a fire, anywhere in their base, full base heating would be an great quality of life addition to any lovers of the snow. No word on exactly how this would be implemented from a player perspective (furnace, etc.) but we’ll keep you posted.
Vehicle weapons (hackweek)
A cannon module for vehicles nears initial completion based on commits. It’s not clear if this would use existing rockets or some new form of munition, but we’ll let you know as more comes to light.
Tea prototyping (hackweek)
Continuing on the work from last week, more potential tea types and functionality are in the works. Here is a lowdown from this week:
Horse laxative tea - doubles rate of dung production when consumed by a horse for 15 minutes
Horse speed tea - increases top speed of horses by 30% for 10 minutes after being eaten by a horse
Modular car speed tea - doubles engine power for 15 minutes
Attack helicopter flare delay
The attack helicopter is receiving some changes for next month. Specifically, flares will only be able to be fired once every 30 seconds. Going along with this, some lights are being added to the controls to indicate rocket and flare readiness. There’s also a little ding sound added for when flares become available again.
