Our update preview stream goes live at 1pm EST (6pm BST). Follow @Rustafied for news throughout the week.
Hotfixes
As is pretty standard for any first couple days post update, several hotfixes were in order. Here is a summary of what was deployed:
Changed Tugboat physic colliders from metal to wood where appropriate
Shipping container splash damage through walls fix
Added additional collider to fix tugboat collision bug
Fixed bug in shadows when using a flash light
Added support for the lights in the tugboat smoke stack at heavy damage levels
Fixed industrial.wall.lamps incorrect visuals
Doors on tug boats now drop debris when destroyed, blocking instant re-placement
Reduce the chance of the player getting killed on the inner tube when colliding with a tugboat
Fixed dropped items rarely falling through the world
Tugboat decay when indoors, very slowly
Tugboat exploit fixes
Improved projectiles dealing no damage when shot from boats issue
Fixed several shipping container repair issues
Brick building skin!
The first iteration of the next building skin is live on the staging branch! “Brick” is the latest stone skin for your future base! With a classic red brick feel, it’s got a great vibe! Still a work in progress, there are some tweaks to be worked out. Nevertheless, it looks like this will be a fresh DLC for the August update in a couple weeks!
Chat emoji’s
Also added to staging this week, the long awaited chat emoji’s in game! These custom, animated emoji’s will be a great addition to your future Rust chat. Also, you can pull up all types of in-game item icons for use in chat too!
Base optimizations
More work on optimizing the loading and display of player bases is happening over on the global networked bases branch. Long and short: it stands to drastically improve how bases appear to players (reducing hitches) along with providing a greater render distance. Still on a separate branch, we’ll let you know when there’s more info around this.
Ferry terminal
Rust’s newest monument is moving closer to its originally intended functionality: server to server player transfers. Over on the nexus branch we’re seeing the signs of ferries being sent to the terminal, perhaps being the upcoming mode of transportation for players going from one server to another.
As you may recall, this functionality will be limited to certain linked servers which share wipe times and blueprints. It’s likely the first iteration of this will be launched on Facepunch official servers. That said, we at Rustafied plan on linking some of our servers when the opportunity arises (Medium 1 and 2’s — Long 1,2 and 3’s, etc.).
Other progress
The team is moving forward on a bunch of other projects. Here is a summary:
Parachute’s are back in the mix!
Weapon racks - they’ll be here one of these days!
New iteration of Bradley
Remove old, very out of date and no longer used list of radio stations
Misc QoL art fixes for various monument spots
Pumpjack prefab with animated Oiljack arm
