1:00pm EST - Our update preview stream is live! twitch.tv/rustafied
12:00am EST - With two weeks to go before the big update, the team is trucking hard on some new vehicles and functionality.
Our update preview stream goes live at 1pm EST. Follow @Rustafied for news throughout the day.
Submarines incoming!
One of the projects with the most visible velocity this month, Submarines, has made some significant strides forward this week. Knocking out much of the initial set up, the team is working on implementation of both a solo and duo submarine.
Along with work model scaling and naming schemes, the team completed a lot around collision and meshes for both subs. It also appears as though some of the locomotion capabilities are already in order.
Still on a separate branch, it’s still too soon to load up staging, hop in one of these bad boys, and start exploring the depths of underwater Rust. That said, given the speed and content of the commits this week, I’d say we’re not far off from being able to do just that. Once it’s merged in I’ll have a full summary of all you as a player need to know about this exciting new underwater transportation method.
Poker improvements
After a number of fixes and UI improvements last week, Rusts favorite card game, Texas Hold ‘Em, is seeing some significant visual improvements hitting staging. Specifically, the community cards are now visible on the table and the chips on the table match the actual pot. In addition to this, they’ve improved some of the UI performance.
All in all, poker played in June should not only function better, but make for a more dynamic experience as the static art on the table has come alive.
Wire and hose colors
Electricians of Rust rejoice and new color options for the wire and hose tool have made their way in. Adding 4 colors in total, the team has implemented a color selection ability for both these tools. To access simply hit the ‘R’ button with the tool up and select which color you want.
Grenade: just the tip
First time users of grenades in game will have a bit more information available to them. This is thanks to a new on-screen tip that explains how the throw and drop mechanics work the first time you use a grenade.
Console edition going live!
For any of you console fans out there, the Rust Console Edition is going live! The rollout day appears to depend on which version you’ve purchased. Deluxe and Ultimate went live on 5/18 while the Standard version goes live on 5/21. If you haven’t already, go check out the Rust Console Edition page for pre-order links and more information.
