Update queued!
3:58pm EST - The devblog and updates are out!
2:50pm EST - Our update stream is live! twitch.tv/rustafied
10:40am EST - It’s Thursday, so you know what that means: Update time! This week we're seeing bug fixes, optimizations, UI changes, and a connection queue. A wipe won’t be forced, however, some servers may choose to when the update hits - including Rustafied main, hapis, savas, and dev branch.
Our update stream will go live at the normal time (3pm EST) and follow @Rustafied for news throughout the day. Now, let’s get into it...
Connection queue added
Days of spamming the retry button to get into a full server are over, you'll now wait in an orderly queue. This new connection screen will show you how many people are in front and behind you in line. This is extra good news for server owners, moderators, and developers, who will automatically get moved to the front of the line, regardless of the maximum slots in the server.
Right click looting
A small but very impactful change has been made to the loot UI. You can now right-click items in your inventory to move them into storage. Additionally, right clicking an item on your clothing bar will move it to your main inventory.
UI Changes
Garry has made some tweaks to the UI. Players will be treated with a new screen when opening the game - the Facepunch logo now accompanies the various initial loading messages. You’ll also notice a new screen while connecting to a server or waiting in the new queue, along with some changes to the main menu layout. Here are some screens:
Client optimizations
Andre has been working a bunch on the conditional models branch. Expect some details from him on the devblog, but most important for you to know is these changes are aimed at improving client performance. And, I'm happy to report, FPS on the staging branch does appear to be higher than last week (for me at least).
Unsucking Hapis progress
Petur has been making some great progress on unsucking hapis island. Although we won't see these changes go live to the next forced wipe (March 3rd), he did send me a few before and after teasers screens to get a sense for what he's working on (keep in mind, these were taking in the editor, so effects like weather are missing)…
Other things
This update also includes the various things mentioned in my article earlier this week including:
- No more ragdolls glitching out and snapping to world origin
- Players are no longer shiney
- A bunch of dungeon art progress (not live till next wipe)
- A fix for save files getting wiped on improper server shutdown
- Wetness effects added near water
- Upgraded to Unity beta 5.4
