Mod progress, mute commands, and bug fixes.
9/16 @ 1:42pm - In preparation for the update tomorrow, the team is committing a bunch of fixes and some new functionality. Unfortunately, the dev branch is suffering from some disconnect issues at the moment, so it's a bit hard to test everything. Given this, I'm forgoing the regular post today and getting straight into our update summary post. Expect that to go up late tonight.
Wipe info: Also, for those of you wondering, there will be wipes tomorrow on our main server, dev branch server, and savas island server. Our other servers will not wipe.
2:50pm EST - We are two days away from the big update and the team is cranking out commits. Along with a bunch of bug fixes, we’re seeing some good progress on weapon mods and some new, helpful admin commands. Let’s get into it...
Weapon mod progress
There have been a bunch of changes and tweaks to the weapon mod functionality over the past week. Today, Garry has fixed some issues with weapon mods disappearing and has also made it so they lose condition over time. Remember: you’ll have to repair broken weapons and mods separately. Also, the dot on the holosight is looking much more stable, not jittering around as much as when it was first introduced. Finally, no sign of the flashlight… yet...
Collider batching
Andre is continuing his work on the collider batching. As you may recall from the last devblog, this body of work is aimed at reducing stuttering by preloading assets in ram as opposed loading them on the fly. Given this has been an issue since the days of legacy, I’m really excited to see the results of these changes.
Mute commands
Admins rejoice! Garry has added several new commands allowing server owners and moderators to mute players chat and voice in game. Here is the list:
- admin.mutevoice [PLAYERNAME]
- admin.unmutevoice [PLAYERNAME]
- admin.mutechat [PLAYERNAME]
- admin.unmutechat [PLAYERNAME]
Give command improvements
Garry has also made the give command a bit easier to work with. Now, instead of needing to type the entire item name, the command will accept a partial item name as well.
Bug fixes
In addition to the new commands, Garry has fixed a bunch of bugs which were present on the development branch:
- Large furnace loot panels no longer just show all burlap shirts
- Fixed the bow viewmodel arrow disappearing
- Fixed signs sometimes not showing their images
- Fixed pumpkin falling through world
- Fixed player getting stuck in wounded state
