A good day for guns
11:00pm EST - Still getting some reports of people unable to wake up / sleeping bag issues. It's definitely better after this update, but maybe not totally fixed.
9:50pm EST - Things are winding down for the day. There were some fixes to the pick axe so hopefully it will be harvesting again on next update. I updated language in our building upgrade guide and our gun guide to account for today's update. By the way, here's a picture of the new 3rd person (world model) view of the bow:
5:25pm EST - Some notes about the guns with this update
- Shotgun looks and works great
- Revolver still doing idle animation when aiming down sight
- None of the guns sounds work after this update (lots of sounds appear to be missing including footsteps)
- Thompson and Shotgun have some debugging accuracy cones representing where you fire
- Thompson fires rewardingly quick.. Wish i could hear it though
- Thompson also has a pretty decent zoom when aiming down the sight
- Shotgun doesn't need to reload like in legacy but its rate of fire still slower than Eoka or Bolt
4:40pm EST - Adding some new shots of the guns.
4:20pm EST - So far things are looking good as far as previous bugs. Sleeping bags seem to work and you don't die every time you rejoin a server! Testing out guns now...
3:37pm EST - Just put a bug report in for the mac crashes. Please add comments if you're experiencing it also.
3:29pm EST - So the patch is live and first thing you'll notice: No footstep sounds. Also, bad news for people on Mac - this update is causing the game to crash on load.
3:20pm EST - The client update just dropped and our server is updated and back up. We did have to wipe the map but we are up to 60 slots now! (trying out the extra slots to test server resources)
2:30pm EST - Garry added some logs to help track down this sleeping bag bug. Being intentional for a quick fix!
1pm EST - The team has been trucking along today with a focus on guns. Before I get into the details, the question on everyone's mind:
Has there been an update? No. There has not been an update released yet. It appears the main cause for this is the slow build times due to a unity / speedtree bug. It now takes around an hour instead of 10 minutes to compile the code. Unity is aware of the bug and I'm hoping a resolution is coming soon, in the mean time, we just have to be patient with less releases.
Now, on to the guns!
Shotgun
For too long the shotgun has been a cruel, cockteasing mistress. She let you make her, she let you hold her, she even spouted fire and a loud bang when you pull her trigger. She did not, however, fire any projectiles (bitch even took a bullet away, just kept it for herself).
These days are behind us (or will be upon the next update)! The shotgun now fires not one, but multiple projectiles! I can't wait to see this in action!
Thompson
The thompson is a submachine gun which, up until today, has been a silent phantom which fires at the same rate as other guns. All this is changing today as the thompson has not only found its viewmodel, it has also gained full automatic firing ability. This will likely make the thompson a new favorite among raiders and homeowners alike.
