Bluebirds, rads and cold hard facts.
Twitter account
At the request of several people, I have started a twitter account. Whenever any updates are posted on rustafied.com, I will tweet about them here:
Radiation!
Ok, it’s official, radiation is working (upon server update, expect this sometime soon). It spikes up to around 1000 (max) when near wolf monuments. These aren't your grandfathers rads which only start hurting your health at 500. These bad boys look like there start affecting your health immediately. The more rads you have, the quicker your health goes shitty. This makes approaching a wolf statue for some loot a much more arduous task. I would highly recommend crafting a bag and placing it outside the rad zone before you approach. The good news is, once you are clear of the radiation, your health starts popping up again.
New vitality stats
With this new UI we can see some more details of the specific benefits each meat has on you. Sorry Mr. Lecter, it appears wolf meat is the desired diet for any growing Newman. Here’s the low-down per piece:
Wolf Meat (cooked)
- Hunger impact = +80
- Thirst impact = +20
Human Meat (cooked)
- Hunger impact = +40
- Thirst impact = +10
Overall, it appears to be much more wholesome to kill some wolves for your meaty eating needs as opposed to eating humans.
Lets talk some baselines
The new UI has also given us some insight into how we start out as a fresh spawn also. After committing a whole shit load of suicide (F1 and kill), I narrowed the baseline down to these ranges:
- Starting hunger: anywhere from 100 to 190
- Starting thirst: anywhere from 80 to 160
These numbers could easily both be 80 to 200. I'll do more testing as we move forward but this is some raw data to wet your chops with.
Raw, rock hitting numbers
I've added some more statistics to the building upgrade guide. Specifically: How long it takes someone with a rock to break down each level.
