1:00pm EST - Our update stream is live! twitch.tv/rustafied
12:00am EST - The first Thursday of the month is here and there is a big update in store! With monument reworks, server event changes, new weapons, and more, you won’t want to miss this update and forced wipe!
Expected at normal time (2pm EST / 7pm BST), this update will force a map wipe on all servers (no forced blueprint wipe). Our update stream goes live at 1pm EST. Follow @Rustafied for news throughout the day.
Minigun
Get ready for the latest firepower coming to Rust – the minigun! This beast packs a whopping 300 rounds of 556 ammo (only regular 556 rounds work with it). And here’s the catch, when it's time to reload, you'll need to find a level 2 workbench because that's the only place you can do it (through the inventory menu).
To get this bad boy spinning, right-click and wait out a short progress bar before you can start blasting. Once it's ready, just left-click to unleash a torrent of bullets. It comes with its very own ammo backpack, but at the moment, you can still use other backpacks at the same time (likely to change).
So how do you get it? It can’t be researched or crafted, so the only way to get your hands on it is by finding it in hackable crates or off Heavy Scientists bodies.
Bradley Scientists
After the update, dealing with Bradley just got a tad trickier. Now, when Bradley takes some damage (think around a couple of rockets' worth), it will deploy 4 scientist NPCs for defense. These aren't heavies, just the regular blue ones you see scattered across the map. They'll quickly take positions around Bradley and will be on your case in no time. This new twist applies to all Bradleys, including those that appear around the map as the wipe draws to a close.
Harbor rework
Players will notice a change at both Harbor monuments after the update. Now shifted to account for the new Cargo Ship event (more on that below), the harbor monuments are now split in two to include a slot for the Cargo Ship to dock. Featuring cranes and a new swing bridge, these updated harbors have a ton of new places to hide. There’s also still the mainstays of old harbors including a recycler, tug boat spawns, and underground entrances.
Cargo ship harbor docking
In addition to their new layout, these adjusted harbor monuments are now home to an updated Cargo Ship server event. Now, when the cargo ship spawns, it’ll make its way to one of the harbors. On approach, the swing bridge opens up, allowing the Cargo Ship to squeeze into the narrow channel. Once stopped, the bridge closes and some of the new cranes start loading red shipping containers onto the ship.
Keep your eyes peeled as players are able to hide in these red shipping containers, allowing them to stow away on the Cargo Ship! The whole process takes about 10 minutes, at which point the Cargo Ship starts moving again and proceeds to circle the map. As it stands, it appears the ship only docks at one harbor per map.
Oilrig moonpools
There's a cool new way to sneak into the Oilrigs coming our way. Both rigs now feature a moonpool, just like the ones in the underwater labs, complete with a big vertical pipe for climbing. This means you can now dive or sub your way into the monument via the depths below.
Once you hit the moonpool, you can climb up the pipe across several floors. You'll find exits right at the water level and another one on the rig's third floor. And though you can open and close the doors on the pipe, locking them isn't an option.
Retro Cupboard skin
First of its kind, a skin is coming to the Tool Cupboard! This Retro Cupboard skin not only looks great, it features a couple of screens which display important upkeep information (if you’re authorized). Specifically, you can see upkeep time, building blocks, and cost.
This will most likely be available for purchase on the item store once the update goes live. To apply in game, simply use your trusty spray can.
Edit: The Retro Tool Cupboard skin is live on the item store!
Electricity improvements
There are a bunch of quality of life improvements coming for electricity with this update! Along with some snapping mechanics, power consumption has been removed from logic gates and other smaller elements. Also, a ton of phantom power drain issues have been fixed. Here are some highlights:
IO snapping added - hold left shift when placing items to have them align and snap to already placed items
Removed power consumption from: AND, OR, XOR, memory cell, timer, blocker, rand, counter, switch, smart switch, splitters, root combiners and electrical branches
Fixed memory cell draining battery on both sides instead of from the active output
Fixed AND, OR & XOR gates draining batteries on both sides instead of only the side with the highest power input
Fixed electrical lights requiring 1 power when off
Fixed ceiling lights being powerable using only 1 power instead of 2
Removed button active usage and power consumption
Fixed unpowered components draining batteries, much more common now that branches do not waste power anymore
Anticheat improvements
The team announced a number of improvements coming to anticheat. As with all anticheat related issues, much has to stay under wraps as it is a game of cat and mouse. That said, Alistair announced that they are fixing some long standing issues related to hacking, closing a number of leaks in the game (networking health, items, stashes, auth lists and more), and hiring staff to focus solely on anticheat. This is all great news!
Other stuff

Various tutorial island fixes
Various typo fixes in item descriptions
