New landscape, networking and tier 1 texture improvements.
1:20pm EST - With one day left before this weeks update, we’re seeing some big visual changes taking place. Mainly, Andre has merged the procgen6 branch into main, drastically altering the landscape. This change will force a map wipe, so brace yourself for a game-wide fresh start tomorrow (blueprints will not be wiped). Let’s take a look at this new landscape...
New landscape
Andre’s main focus for the past several weeks has been the procgen6 branch. With well over 100 commits, there are some huge changes to the environment. In addition to bridges and rivers, the overall terrain looks much more interesting. Here are some screens:
Networking
Garry is still working on some networking things, adding network stats and addressing some netgraph errors. It looks like he still has some work to do because we’re seeing a number of disconnects on the dev server due to invalid packets and entities out of order. Hopefully we see some more improvements prior to tomorrow’s update, getting repeatedly disconnected from a server sucks.
Tier 1 improvements
Vincent has completed some improvements to the Tier 1 log wood textures. Looking good!
