Bikes and more!

12:00am EST - We’re at the halfway point for Rust development for the month and the team is trucking on new features and various fixes.

Bikes

The newest form of vehicle in Rust continues to take shape. This week bikes emerged onto the Aux2 branch for further testing. Although not super functional yet, this does give us a better sense for what’s to come. It appears as though there will be two types of bikes, pedal operated and motorbikes. You'll even potentially be able to bring a passenger as the motorbike has a variant with a sidecar.

The visuals are still mostly placeholders, and it looks like the majority of the functionality is missing, but we will keep you posted as this project continues to take shape on the Aux2 branch.


Radtown redux

Progress continues on an upcoming monument type, radtown redux. After seeing some of our first glimpses last week, work on these monuments seems to be focused on textures and colliders this week. No word on when this will make it in the game, but we’ll keep you updated as more comes to light.


Crude gestures

The hack week project which added a bunch of new crude gestures appears to be moving forward with a high likelihood of making it in the game. Now moved off the hack week branch, this body of work brings about a bunch of cheeky new gestures, such as middle finger, double middle finger, cut throat, finger guns, and more. No confirmation on how or when these will make it in the game, but we will keep you posted.


Fixes

There’s also a variety of miscellaneous fixes in the works. Here is a summary:

  • Fixed server entity reference error with door controller

  • Fixed poker offering no options to the remaining player when only one player can make moves

  • Fixed Clatterhat flares texture & LOD plus performance optimization

  • Fixed Coffin storage adaptor socket position

  • Fixed flyhack caused by standing on moving containers at harbor

  • Fixed recycler resource remainder

  • Fixed translation default back to 0

  • Fixed unharvestable ghost trees

  • Fixed hacked create keypad & improved textures

  • Various horse fixes

  • Fixed ice throne colliders

  • Fix missions UI always appearing when a player connects to a server even when set to false

  • Fixed MLRS screen map stencil sometimes clipping into the players legs.

  • Fixed shelves top collider to allow vertical barrel placement on the upper shelf

  • Fixed Water Purifier missing deploy guide

  • Fixed power passthrough set to 0 by default on empty outputs, to clarify when power is blocked and when power passes through

  • Fixed gun shooting slower when it has muzzle boost + burst module rather than burst module alone

  • Fixed patrol heli crashing at quarry and flares while fleeing

  • Fixed scientists attacking heli

  • Fixed long message chat ui

  • Fixed various wiretool issues

  • Fixed minicopter seat being removed if flying through harbor swing crane


Other stuff

  • Various improvements to map performance

  • Work on new textures for Jackhammers

  • More work on prisoner hoods and handcuffs

  • More work on a billiards table

  • More progress on the SKS rifle

  • More work on the Blunder Buster (new weapon)

  • Progress on Tiger assets
