Update time!

12:00am EST - Update day is here, and along with the forced map wipe, there are some cool new additions making their way in!

Our update stream goes live at 1pm EST. The update and forced wipe is expected at normal time (2pm EST / 7pm GMT). Follow @Rustafied for news throughout the day.


Nightlight

Seeing at night will be a bit easier post-update today as ‘nightlight’ has been added! Providing a soft glow around your immediate area, this subtle moon lighting allows you to make out some of the things around you in the middle of the night. It only goes a couple feet, so it should not be able to be exploited by gamma hacks or anything like that. 


Tutorial Island

New players to the game will now be prompted with the option to play a tutorial when joining official servers. This new ‘tutorial island’ is a small, private island which the new player is teleported to when starting the tutorial. There they meet a mysterious stranger who prompts them to do various things around the island (ala the mission system in the game). 

Through these missions players will learn the ropes of gathering, crafting, building, hunting, and the like. Eventually you’ll craft a workbench, kayak, and paddle then be prompted to leave the island. After a little bit on the kayak, you’ll get rolled up on by two RHIBs with scientists on them who promptly kill you. Viola! Tutorial complete and you’ll be able to spawn on the beach as normal.


Vendor UI updates

Vendors around the map along with player created vending machines have a fresh UI on the in game map as of this update. With a cleaner layout, this fresh UI makes it easier to see what is available, and it handles clusters of vendors together in a much cleaner fashion. 


Item Store UI updates

The in game item shop (in the escape menu) also received a visual overhaul this month. Along with seeing a bit more info on the items, there is now a 3d rotation available for each item when viewing the details, allowing you to more accurately see that which you’re considering purchasing.


Fixes

There have been a number of miscellaneous fixes this month. Here is a summary:

  • Barrel fix added missing recycling decals

  • Fixed both friends & non-friends having blue names

  • Fixed Blackjack UI when leaving game when you’re the only player

  • Fixed ground bleed with Large Furnaces

  • Fixed holstered weapon not updating when dropping and picking up backpacks

  • Fixed map marker disappearing when deleting a single one.

  • Fixed CNY Spear not working with weapon racks

  • Fixed pipe tool not resuming the entire industrial pipe when switching active item / reconnecting

  • Fixed wire tool not saving wire tool color when disconnecting wire

  • Fixed orange pipe looking blue

  • Fixed card color always appearing green when another player is holding the card

  • Fixed map markers flashing when player is downed

  • Fixed map not opening when downed if using the new toggle map option

  • Fixed weapons being visible when gesturing


Other stuff

  • The hotbar has numbers on it now for each slot

  • Added Binocular rangefinder

  • Set rangefinders to dashes when cast fails, max distance to 999m

  • Item crafter now checks to ensure conditional items have a condition above 0 to use them to craft other things

  • Tweaks to the Patrol Helicopter behavior

  • Added color UI when assigning a player to a bag or turrets

  • Attack heli flares can now only be fired once every 30 seconds, plus added indicator lights and sound when ready to fire again
