Handmade SMG

Get ready to add some firepower to your early-game loadout with the new Handmade SMG dropping in this update! This super basic automatic firearm packs a modest punch with 20 damage per hit and a decent fire rate. While it's low on damage and accuracy, it’s a great starter option for those looking for an accessible automatic weapon. It features a 18 round mag and fires pistol bullets. Plus, it’s available as a Tier 1 blueprint, making it an easy addition to your arsenal for early skirmishes.

SKS Rifle

Big news for Rust sharpshooters—the SKS Rifle is making its debut as its own gun, not just a SAR skin as original thought earlier this year! This new rifle steps up the game with more damage, a higher fire rate, and greater range than the SAR, though it does come with slightly more recoil. Also, it holds 15 bullets per magazine and uses 5.56 rifle ammo. Whether you're looking to pick off distant targets or hold your own in a firefight, the SKS Rifle is a powerful new addition to your weaponry lineup.

Gesture pack DLC

Hey Rust players, get ready to throw some shade and have a bit more fun with today’s update—new gestures are here! You’ve got a whole new toolbox of them to play with now: flash the 'loser' sign, give a disapproving finger wag, shush your foes (loudly or quietly), crack your knuckles, throw down some rock paper scissors, point with a finger gun, signal 'I’m watching you', or even make a throat-cutting gesture.

Plus, the radial menu just got a makeover with multiple pages and a fresh options menu, so you can organize your gestures just how you like 'em. It looks like these new gestures will be part of a fresh “Gesture Pack DLC,” but everyone will be able to play rock paper scissors as long as it’s initiated by someone who has the DLC.

Wolf behavior

Rust’s wolves are getting a major AI overhaul in today's update, and they're about to get a lot more cunning. These critters have picked up a bunch of new tricks; they're now hopping onto foundations (pretty high at times), moving more strategically in packs, and they've learned to skedaddle when they see fire from torches and campfires. You'll hear them howling to call in the cavalry, retreating strategically, and then coming back organized for a pack attack. Get ready to face some smarter, slicker wolves on your next wilderness adventure!

Large backpack skins

Great news for Rust players who like to customize their gear: the large backpack is now skinnable! This update opens up a world of possibilities for community-created skins, so you can expect to see some cool, custom designs hitting the item store soon. While there’s no exact date yet for when the first batch of skins will be available, keep an eye out—your next backpack could be a unique piece that stands out in the wilds of Rust.

CCTV voices

Rust is taking surveillance to the next level with a nifty update to CCTV cameras—they can now pick up in-game voice feeds! This enhancement applies to all player-placed CCTVs as well as those installed around monuments. Moreover, when CCTV cameras at monuments take damage, they'll temporarily go offline for a default period of five minutes, although they'll still be able to capture audio. This adds a whole new layer of strategy to both setting up defenses and planning your approach to raiding or scouting, giving players more ways to gather intel and stay one step ahead.

Monument cliff updates

Big updates are rolling out for the cliffs around Rust's monuments! The old rocks and cliffs at monuments have been swapped out for new, slick prefabs. As you roam around Water Treatment, Sewer Branch, or the Cave Entrances after the update, you'll notice these places have been affected the most. Not only does it all look fresher, but it’s also a lot easier to climb in many spots now. Whether you're navigating tricky terrain or just taking in the sights, these changes should make your exploration smoother and more enjoyable.
