Hello 2024!

2:00pm EST - The update is live and devblog is out!

12:00am EST - Happy New Year and I hope everyone had a great holiday! The first update of the year kicks off today at regular time (2pm EST / 7pm GMT). As with all first Thursday updates, this will force a map wipe on all servers.

Our update stream goes live at 1pm EST. Follow @Rustafied for news through the day.


So long, Christmas

One of the main changes coming with the update today is the disabling of all Xmas content. So long St. Nick with your loaded air drops. So long jingle bells and spawned presents nearby. We’ll see you next December.


Light content patch

Given the holidays, this update is sparse in terms of new content and changes. Never fear, there is still a bunch of awesome new stuff on the horizon! Expect a recap of 2023 along with some of Facepunch’s plans for 2024 in the devblog today (I’ll link above once it’s posted). As always, we’ll keep you posted each week with more on what's happening in Rust development.


Misc. changes and fixes

Although no new content is making its way in, there are some changes and fixes going live with the update today. Here is a summary.

Fixes

  • Fixed minicopter ragdoll, mounted players ragdoll fall through vehicle instead of collide. Enabled for all 3 helicopters / modular cars and work carts  

  • Fixed terrain texture error on potato quality for MacOS

  • Fixed spray can reskin not working on some older large box skins until the player reconnects

  • Fixed unsafe ragdoll parenting method. Fixes glitch with corpses when killed on the back of scrap heli’s

  • Fixed Grenade throw tick time and explosive position and sync

  • Fixed old team makers staying on the map when reconnecting to a new server

  • Other Ragdoll fixes

  • Fixed spectate health for admins

Changes

  • Make the item description scrollable when the description is too long

  • Set the default "focus map" bind to `F`; it doesn’t interfere with Flashlight On/Off

  • Conveyor filter and F1 debug tools now uses the same culture handling that the vending admin panel and crafting menu uses when searching

  • A timeout was added to the fishing bobber if the bobber gets disconnected from the fishing rod

  • Added a tooltip to the inventory's hostile countdown to explain what it is

  • Split IO budget systems into specific queues by type. Allow servers to maintain responsive monument IO


Solos shifting to bi-weekly

Last month, in the wake of Barren being retired, we opened our first Solo servers on the official list. After polling the community on a couple things, we’ve decided to shift to a bi-weekly wipe schedule, starting with the wipe today. Enjoy!
