Charitable Rust is this month!

That’s right! Our yearly charity event, Charitable Rust, happens this month! Join in the fun on November 19th and 20th for exclusive item store skins, Twitch drops, talent shows, prizes, races, game modes, and much more! All raising funds for World Central Kitchen.

Prototype 17

A new pistol is added to the Rust arsenal as this update goes live. The ‘Prototype 17’ features an 18-round magazine and offers burst fire. Looking like a Glock, this pistol deals roughly as much damage as a Semi-auto pistol per round, but fires 3 rounds at a time!

Found only in Bradley and Heli crates, the Prototype 17 is rare and cannot be researched or crafted. When you do happen upon one, you may just choose to recycle it for a semi body, 2 HQM, and most importantly, a Burst Module.

Burst Module

Also going live with the update today, a new attachment: the Burst Module. As it stands, this attachment looks to only be attained through recycling the new Prototype 17 pistol (no crafting or researching). When added to a weapon, it switches the weapon’s fire rate to 3 shot bursts while increasing the fire rate (by 20%) and lowering recoil (also by 20%).

It works with the Custom, LR-300, M39, M92, MP5, Semi-Auto Pistol, Semi-Auto Rifle, and Thompson. If you care to, it can be recycled for 5 HQM.

Caboose

A new train wagon will be found around the map after this forced wipe. Unlike any other wagons before, the Caboose offers games and fun!

With a cool look and decorative lights (operated via switches on the front and back),  the Caboose allows players to travel the rails of Rust in style like never before! Featuring 2 slots, a 4 person poker table, and the newest Rust card game, Blackjack, the Caboose provides ample opportunity to gamble scrap. With all the lights and games, don’t worry about providing power or fuel for this wagon, as none is required to operate the internals.

Be mindful while gambling, however, as there is no safe zone, so danger could be around every bend. Speaking of, if you happen to be wondering what it takes to destroy a Caboose, you’ll need 2 rockets and about 10 explosive rounds to finish off the 1.2k hp each Caboose starts with.

Blackjack

As mentioned above, the newest way to gamble your scrap away is here! Found exclusively on the Caboose, Blackjack can be played alone or with up to 3 players. If you’re unfamiliar, Blackjack is a game of chance where you play against the house to try and get the largest sum of cards without busting over 21.

To start, sit down at the Blackjack machine, deposit scrap in front of you, and hit ‘play game’. Follow the UI to track the status of the round, bet, and stand. A first iteration of the game, there are likely more features in the works for future updates.

Effects updates

You’ll notice a new look to various fire and lighting effects after the update goes live. Specifically, you’ll notice some VFX shifts with candles, tuna can lights, BBQ’s, and Molotov ground fire.
