Halloween next week
The Rust Halloween update pops off next week! If you’ve never experienced a Rust Halloween before, you’re in for some spooky surprises! This week we’re seeing various Halloween features getting activated on staging including scarecrows, collectibles, candy-vision, ambient sounds, and a new ‘Darkness Falls’ Rust logo on the escape menu. Along with that, a couple new freaky Frankenstein clothing items have also been added to the F1 item menu - no word on exactly how these will be implemented quite yet.
Overall it looks like Rust Halloween this year will feature some familiar favorites along with new scary new items. We’ll have a full write-up of the spookiness in the article next week.
Edit: Looks like the Frankenstein items might include a pet of sorts. Still not fully implemented on staging, we’ll keep you posted.
Desert military base progress
The upcoming monument to hit Rust is receiving some TLC on the staging branch. With much of the work related to the user interface for the MLRS, it looks like users are set to have a straightforward experience when it comes to blowing the fuck out of people and bases in the nearby vicinity. They’ve also added some more textures to the MLRS model, upping the overall fidelity.
We’re expecting the Desert Military Base and MLRS to go live with the November 4th update. For more information on this monument, check out our post from last week. We’ll keep that up to date as the update nears.
More general QoL
The team is back at the next round of general quality of life improvements. Here is a summary of what we’ve seen this week:
Updated red, green, blue, yellow, and white berries descriptions to mention their use in mixing table recipes
Added admin command entity.downloadsign which downloads the sign the player is currently looking at to a folder into the game folder with a given filename. Downloads all frames of neon signs and appends them as 1, 2, 3, etc.
Modify diving mask UI overlay shader to multiply colour by underwater state (underwater = fully dark) Prevents diving mask appearing as fully lit when underwater during daytime
Other stuff
Updated a radio station URL. Increased scroll speed in radio station selection dialog
Fix for stores where the first item added to the cart was not visible on the list
