The Mixing Table is here!

1:00pm EST - Our update preview stream is live! twitch.tv/rustafied

12:00am EST - With just one week prior to the big August update, the developers have released an exciting new item to the staging branch. This article provides a brief overview of the Mixing Table - expect a full guide on this table prior to the update next week.

Our update preview stream goes live at 1pm EST. Follow @Rustafied for news throughout the day.

Mixing Table on staging

For weeks (months even) we’ve seen commits to a mysterious mixing table branch. Keeping it close to the chest, the developers didn’t share any real specifics about what this table will do, leaving players to guess what the functionality could be.

That guessing game is over as the Mixing Table was adding to the staging branch for testing yesterday. So what does it do exactly? Well, as per the description, it’s used for mixing recipes. What recipes you ask? Tea for the most part - but also explosives.

As you’d expect, each recipe requires certain ingredients, the majority of which are newly added berries. Now, before your head explodes about any part of this, note this is still in its infancy and very likely to get tweaked prior to release.

Berries

As mentioned above, the majority of what people can make with this table appears to be tea at the moment. That tea is made from berries. As such, a number of berries have been added to the game. These berries can be found in various bushes around the map.

Berries can also be grown from seeds and cloned (you receive one seed when picking a bush). Eaten alone, they provide a small amount of caloric intake and hydration (5 and 2 respectively). That said, the real magic begins when you start combining them into teas on the mixing table.

White Berry

Green Berry

Red Berry

Blue Berry

Tiers of tea

Now before we get into the exact types of tea, it’s important to cover the tiers of tea. With 3 tiers total, teas can have a range of impacts depending which tier they are. To get a higher tier tea, you simply combine 5 of the lower tier teas together and it’ll produce one high tier (I.E. 5 normal healing teas will combine into an advanced healing tea).

  1. Normal

  2. Advanced

  3. Pure

Types of tea

In total, there are 7 types of tea. Each type requires different berries and provides different effects. Below is a list of the current types of tea and their effects. Note that in order to properly produce the tea, you must follow the recipe in the exact order. Failure to do so will have you unable to start mixing.

At the moment it appears these effects last about 5 minutes. Note: All of this is subject to change before going live next week.

Explosives?!

That’s right, you can also produce explosives on the Mixing Table. Now, you do need to have learned the blueprint already. Provided you do, however, adding fertilizer and low grade fuel together in a certain combination will result in an explosive. Here is more information:

New armor design for modules

Armored Cockpits got a bit of a visual overhaul with the addition of the armored passenger module.

Horseshoe cave nerf

A big setback for all the cave dwellers out there as a large nerf was applied to the horseshoe cave. Players are no longer able to build in the middle building pocket in the horseshoe cave.

Roof block improvements

Some enhancements to roof blocks went live on staging earlier today. In short, the roof pieces now combine together in a much more natural and appealing way. Nice!

Vehicle changes

There have been a slew of miscellaneous vehicle changes this week. Here is a summary:

  • Cars can climb hills better

  • Engine internals now survive twice as long

  • Lifts can be placed in tighter areas (including T-shaped floor sections)

  • Cars are now cheaper to repair on the lift vs. the hammer again, with hammer going back from 20% to 50% cost

  • Better car gibs

  • Fixes and improvements for car collisions

Other stuff

  • Fixed getting dismounted while flying low over AirWolf on HapisIsland

  • Fixed supply drop flying away after getting hit by projectiles

  • Fix for minicopters and modular cars becoming unusable after loading from a save if the server was saved during engine start up

  • Only show hostile marker when within 200m of safe zone

  • Lightened the picture frame glass albedo texture and changed the material so that images don't appear so dark.
