Vehicle sneak peek tomorrow!

12:00am EST - Development is trucking along nicely for Rust and we’ve got some exciting news about the upcoming vehicles.

Vehicles staging branch coming

In the interest of having optimal time to both develop and test the massive functionality of modular vehicles, the developers have decided to try something unique for this roll out. Starting Monday, a new staging branch will become available which has the vehicles on it. This will allow for ample testing of the vehicles by the community this month without having to launch it all with the next update in June.

As an added bonus, Rustafied along with several other select content creators will be given early access to the vehicles branch on Friday. We’re planning on going live to test and then writing up an overview of what there is to know about these exciting new vehicles. Stay tuned to @Rustafied for exactly when we’ll be live, but it’ll likely be some time Friday afternoon (EST).


Smart item progress

More work has been done on two new ‘smart’ items. The Smart Switch and Smart Alarm both appeared on the staging branch the other week. Over the past couple of days, crafting and research information have been added (see below) along with the ability to purchase at Compound. 

Although it’s still unknown exactly how these will be implemented, they appear to be part of an upcoming mobile companion app which will enable interactions between your phone and the game.

Temperature sensors

A new type of sensor is in the works this week on a separate branch. The initial functionality and calculations for a temperature sensor appears to be complete. The first items to be integrated look to be campfires and hemp. No word on when we’ll see these in game, but we’ll keep you posted.
