Cheaper repairs and mountable progress
5:30pm EST - Here's not a devblog!
12:30am EST - Thursday is here, and for the first time in a while, there is no update. Rust is out of early access and therefore the team has switched to a monthly update schedule to allow for larger features to be worked on and released in a more stable fashion.
We’re still going to do an update preview stream each week at the normal time (3pm EST) to show off what’s new on the staging branch and answer questions. Keep in mind, the things mentioned below won’t go live till March 1st.
Edit: No update preview stream today as staging is not functional at the moment.
Chinook event preview
Helk just sent me two videos previewing the upcoming Chinook server event. As mentioned in the roadmap, this helicopter will periodically deliver a locked crate similar to an airdrop to a specific radtown. Players will have to capture and hold this area for a period of time to gain access to the loot.
Chainsaw model
The chainsaw model Tom has been working on is coming along nicely. Check out more on his Artstation page.
Item repair costs reduced
Fixing your broken weapons and tools just got a lot cheaper as repair costs were reduced from 50% to 20%.
Repair bench no longer costs wood
Repairing items isn’t the only thing less expensive, the repair bench no longer requires wood to craft. That said, it does cost a bit more in the metal frags department (now 125 required).
Mountable progress
Helk has continued his work on mountables this week. Adding on his existing work with sitting in chairs and cars, he is now running some tests on passengers and saddle seats. Does this mean we’ll soon have rideable horses and Newmans road tripping across the map in cars?
I wouldn’t hold your breath for a March launch of either of those, but it does look like mountables may be one of the next things of the chopping block.
Other stuff
- Players will now need building privilege to access spotlights
- Bandages and syringes now show their information panel
Rustafied Server wipe schedule
Our wipe schedules were thrown off a bit this month due to the second forced wipe that occured last week. Given this, all weekly and biweekly Rustafied servers will wipe today (except Odds). After this, the biweekly servers will be back on their regular wipe schedule.
EU servers wipe at 5pm GMT - US servers wipe at 5pm EST - AU servers wipe at 5pm AEST
