Player model updates, sitting, and more!

Player model updates (postponed)

You'll notice some changes to naked Newman's running the beach after the update today as Taylor has merged in the skin updates branch. This body of work includes new heads and a general pass on the player model. It also fixes a couple things like eye movement and blinking.

Keep in mind, this does not include a full character reroll. It appears everyone is still the same sex, however, certain attributes of skin tone, head, and body may have shifted.

Edit: These have been reverted for the time being.


Vending machine tweaks

Helk has changed a couple things with vending machines. Along with a slight increase to health, they no longer spew out items if destroyed. The goal with this is to discourage people from destroying them just to get all the loot inside while providing proprietors more peace of mind.

Keep in mind, vending machines can still be accessed freely from the back side, so using them as a vault is not very viable.


Better info panels

Building on the info panels put in last week, Helk has added statistics for consumable and medical items along with implimenting some tooltips to better describe each statistice.


Auto turret loses target after it's out of range

Once a target is acquired, auto turrets have continued to fire upon the object, even after it went out of range. Helk has shifted that this week, making it so the turret will disengage a foe once they are out of range.


Sitting 101 (postponed)

Helk has added the baseline system for sitting in chairs! To sit, simply go up to a chair and press ‘E’ when you see ‘Mount’. To get up, press jump (spacebar). It appears there are still some slight issues with positioning sometimes, expect tweaks to this shortly.

Edit: It seems the player model positioning gets messed up for local 3rd person, other players should see the models sitting in the correct position.

Edit: Due to potential exploits, this has been postponed.


Food balance

Food has gotten a slight shift in balance. All raw meat (besides fish) now poisons you. Also, all burnt meat has been rebalanced to give 1/4 what cooked meat provides.


Updated Bradley sounds

You should notice some shifts to sounds when in the vicinity of rocket factory as the Bradley sounds have been updated. Also, smoke effects have been added to the treads.


Skin loading

Spawning in game should be a bit quicker as the loading screen no longer waits for all skins to finish downloading by default. This can be changed, if you so wish, by setting ‘skinwarmup 1’ in console.


Combat log info

Andre has added a new ‘info’ column to the combat log which shows whether the target was wounded or killed with that hit. As always, you can access your combat log in game by bringing up the console (F1) and typing ‘combatlog’.

  • Improvements to the EAC API (hopefully less auth timeouts)
  • More optimization from Andre
  • Tooltips can use translations
  • A bunch more progress on scientist NPC's (although they are not in yet)
  • More item description updates and fixes
  • More progress from Alex on the new arms
  • Attempted fix for an NRE which occurs in player culling
