Bandana added, menu progress, and item balance

3:06pm EST - It is day two of Rust development for the week and we're seeing some nice progress. The menu updates have really taken shape, a new way to cover your face has been added, sounds improved, new animations, and more. Let's get into it…

Bandana is in

The newest piece of headgear has made it into the game; the bandana has been added. A default blueprint costing 40 cloth, this new fashion accessory is bound to become popular. Being it is merely a piece of cloth, it provides no protection from damage. Also, the only other piece of headwear you can put on at the same time is the Boonie hat. Keep in mind, all of this is subject to change prior to Thursday's update. Here are some screens:

Menu progress

Garry continues his work on revamping the main menu system. In addition to the changes highlighted yesterday, there is now a tab for the store. This allows you to easily see what items are for sale and purchase them within a couple clicks. Also, the home and inventory tabs have been cleaned up a bit more.

As a server owner, the change I'm most excited about is the new server details window which includes a description and URL for servers (server.description and server.url). This will allow server owners to give links to their community, provide wipe schedules, and share rules or details about their server.

Edit: We also now have support for server.headerimage. Nice!

Item cost changes

Garry has also rebalanced some of the clothing item costs. Here are some details:

  • Longsleeve shirt now costs 80 cloth (was 50)
  • Snow jacket is now 250 cloth (was 150)
  • Boots now require 50 leather (was 50 cloth)

Sound fixes

Alex has revamped some sounds: polishing C4, tweaking reverb, and making several other small changes.

New wounded animation

Minh continues his work on animations, adding a new effect for when a player is wounded.
