Bone scale, building cost changes, weather and more!

2:09pm EST - This week is shaping up to be an exciting one as we’re already seeing a ton of changes and new functionality. After being two developers short last week, the team is all back and rocking out features in full force. Let’s get into it...


Bone scale based on steamid

Steamid no longer just dictates your face and skin color, it now also defines your body (and penis) size. Check out this video Garry posted yesterday. Along with the concerns about which genital size you’re stuck with, advantage given by overall body hitbox size may also ruffle some feathers. Although initial tests on our development branch server show some people are slightly bigger than others, the variation doesn’t appear drastic enough to be cause for alarm.


Build cost changes

Garry has tweaked a bunch of costs related to building blocks. Floors, doors, pillars, doorway/window walls and foundation steps have all been made cheaper. Also, triangle foundations and floors are half the cost of their square counterparts, making round bases much more cost effective than previously. Along with that, building shell protection has been added to the triangle pieces, allowing them to offer the same protection that square pieces do.


Code lock is default

Gone are the days of fucking around with keys and grinding for a code lock bp when you join a new server, Garry has made the code lock a default blueprint. He’s also altered the cost slightly, now requiring 400 wood and 100 metal frags to craft (as opposed to the current cost of 500 wood and 50 frags).


Weather

Andre has committed the first work in progress version of weather! No visuals on this yet as it is on a separate branch; however, I’ll be sure to post some as soon at it’s merged into main.


Baseball riot helmet

Some new headgear is on the horizon as Minh has checked in the first iteration of the baseball riot helmet. I’ll post up some in game shots of this once it’s live on the dev branch, in the mean time, here's a shot that Minh linked to on the devblog:


Other changes

Garry has also done a bunch of other small changes. Here’s a rundown:

  • Sleep command restricted to admins
  • Increased grenade throw power
  • Pump shotgun is less rare
  • Gunpowder crafts 2x faster (kind of)
