Stability improvements, fixes, sleeping animals and misty ruins
1:36pm EST - Yesterday was a tough day for Rust fans. The big update launched in the morning and all seemed well for the first few hours. Then the mass drops came back with a vengeance. In the evening, a server / client update came out which made things worse. Servers were experiencing a new "server has stopped" issue. Thankfully, it is a new day and things appear to be much better. A new client / server update was released a couple hours ago and things are running smooth so far! Here’s some things of note with today’s update...
Health fixed
Yesterday, you may have noticed health was not going above 69 no matter how much meat you ate. Maurino was able to deploy a fix for this last night so now health will go up to 100.
Transparent nodes
Above we have a shot of the elusive transparent node. Looks like a texture just got left out of this build because these nodes still give resources just fine. This will be fixed on the next update.
Increased large wood storage
When the update first came out yesterday, the large wood storage crates only had 8 slots. Thankfully, the tables have shifted in the opposite direction, as large wood storage now has 36 slots!
Head bob is less
This was actually in yesterday's update but wanted to make sure it was mentioned. People prone to motion sickness will rejoice to know the head bobbing has been toned down a bit. You should no longer have to look away while hitting a tree.
Jerky player interactions
Since the update yesterday, other players movements have been noticeably jerkier (regardless of ping). Garry is aware of this issue so we should see a fix soon.
New loading screen
The loading screen now gives a count on what it’s receiving as opposed to just saying “receiving data.”
New foundations
A new model for the wood foundations have been added this morning. I like it!
Sleeping animals
Sleeping animals have officially been added. There is still some work to do on this as I’ve gotten reports of bears crawling around the forest in their sleeping positions. Either way, it’s cool to see the animal AI grow and improve.
New concept: Misty ruins
Megan keeps rocking out these awesome concepts. Today she posted the newest one, misty ruins:
Tip of the day: Get rid of that little white line
No, those arent some broken pixels on the bottom left of your screen. It’s actually the cursor from the new Unity console (just added yesterday). You can get it to go away if you hit F1 and click out of the text input for the console.
